Riikka Hakola has become known as a full-blooded performer of strong female roles. The Masterpiece, Akhnaten, by American contemporary composer Philip Glass will finally have its Finnish premiere at The Aleksander Theatre in Helsinki as a co-production of the Opera Skaala and the Opera BOX. Riikka Hakola will be singing the role of Queen Tye.
“I am a woman who flies. I am a woman who swims, because I can swim in the infinite.” The music and dance film deals with questions around identity, empowerment and community belonging. The film combines performing arts and virtual scenography into an interdisciplinary experience. Mirages is directed by Marikki Hakola. Music is by Kaija Saariaho. The main role is performed by Riikka Hakola.
